More About Kate

  • Kate studied fine arts at Texas Woman’s University, and a backpacking trip to Europe in the 90’s with an art history professor fueled interests in cathedrals, cobblestone patterns, wrought iron gates, and botanical gardens, grand or small. Raising two children, living briefly in North Dakota, painting murals in CA, and operating a weaving studio in Taos, NM have all contributed to her artistic expressions. Kate traveled widely and explored the mountains and high deserts of New Mexico every year until she returned to Texas in 1997.

  • Currently living in Corpus Christi, TX, Kate operates her studio from home and produces large format monotypes, monoprints, mixed media paintings, with or without handmade collage elements. She paints on gallery wrap canvas and uses archival, 100% cotton printmaking paper or watercolor paper for printmaking. Her monoprints can be mounted on 16X20 cradle board panels or framed under glass. Flat files can be shipped unframed in a tube.

16" x 20" mixed media painting with paper on cradled wood panel.

 IN LOVING MEMORY

  • "I am often asked about the bold and saturated colors I paint with. I do so because my late husband, William, was sight-impaired with optic nerve damage in both eyes, congenitally and from an accident. He could not enjoy the fullness of my artwork as a sighted viewer, nor could he see details or nuances of transparency or pattern. He was my greatest encourager."
  • Every layer and line in a painting's rich surface texture become "PATHWAYS, WINDOWS and PORTALS" of welcome conversation inviting me to dig deeper into the making of my paintings. Every layer is energy and emotion frozen in time. I invite you, the viewer and collector, to dialogue with me into the mysteries of  my abstract artwork. "
